Westwinds Sailing School operates from Nelson Marina, next to the Tasman Bay
Cruising Club, and offers 2- to 5-day
RYA
practical sailing courses and
charters.
You will sail in Tasman Bay, bordered by the Abel Tasman National Park, D'Urville Island and Nelson in the
South. We also occasionally venture into the
Marlborough Sounds, an area renowned for its climate with the most sunshine-hours in New
Zealand.

 RYA Practical Sailing Courses
Westwinds offer
RYA
practical sailing courses. You will have a great opportunity to sample some
of the best sailing in the Southern hemisphere under the guidance of a qualified
RYA instructor.
 No
Hidden Costs
Superb food, accommodation on board , bedding
provided, RYA Certificate, oilskins if needed, and excellent instruction! No
hidden costs (prices exclude exam fees for Coastal Exam and Yachtmaster Exam which are
payable to the CBES).
 Yacht Charter
You can charter
a yacht, with Skipper included, and receive first class instruction for up
to 5 people. You control the agenda and
receive the benefit of our local knowledge, ensuring you get the best out of
your time with us.
 Plain
Sailing
If you are not interested in doing a course but just want to sail in this
beautiful region come sailing with Westwinds. Our
Mile Builder courses offer 7 days of sailing in the Abel Tasman-through to
the Marlborough Sounds. With all food and accommodation onboard provided these
weeks offer relaxed cruising at competitive prices. If you wish to learn the
skipper is happy to teach you, if not sit back and enjoy the sailing and make
some new friends.

RYA sailing courses offer the best of sailing instruction. Recognised Worldwide,
the RYA sail training scheme is taught in countries from Europe through South
Africa and Australia to New Zealand.

RYA courses are the starting point for a career in the superyacht Industry, as
well as offering sailing courses for the novice and the amateur yachtsman who
just wants to improve his/her skills.
